MAHA MAMO TEAM
for SASANE

Hi everybody!

I am delighted to invite you to my first online camp to support Sasane, a community in Nepal supporting victims of human trafficking. An Online Camp is an event that allows people to create teams capable to develop a project to make positive changes all over the world.

One of the SASANE programs is The citizenship program – In Nepal, people can find themselves unable to access citizenship if there are issues concerning their birth certificates, particularly if the father is unnamed. As some of SASANE beneficiaries are affected, this is a topic close to their heart.

I invite in my team, people who are ready to help with their knowledge and abilities to make a real change in the situation for one community in the world that needs our support and help. The main requirement for the participants is the desire to help and work in a team.

MORE ABOUT SASANE

In 2007 a group of human trafficking survivors came together to create a special organization to protect human trafficking survivors, ran by survivors. The name SASANE means let’s protect ourselves. SASANE’s vision is to empower each survivor with the skills, knowledge and self-esteem to reach their full potential and their mission is to end the physical and sexual exploitation of women and girls.

Citizenship is one of the most important elements of a civic identity. Without citizenship, an individual may easily lose the legal basis for establishing almost all social, political, economic, and jurally relationships in a modern state, society, and community. In any democratic state, citizenship concludes the civic relationships fused with rights and duties as the core expression of an individual identity. Nepal has historically suffered from the problem of equal citizenship, which the Constitution of Nepal, 2015 has failed to address. Women, in particular, are deprived of the equal status in imparting citizenship to their children. The practice of a male-dominated citizenship policy has continuously hindered fulfillment of the aspirations of gender equality.
